Javier Benítez Gómez
President of the Council for the Promotion of Human Values and Culture of Lawfulness
Not long ago, Bertrand Russell said: 'The greatest challenge for any thinker is stating the problem in a way that will allow a solution.'
Many of us have wondered, how can we move forward when it seems that our political, economic, and social situation worsens each day? It is possible if we set fear aside and target our efforts towards building the Mexico in which we really wish to live.
We have witnessed many unfortunate events, but we have also realized that only working together we can move forward. It is time to spread hope where there is fear, teach where there is ignorance, be light where there is darkness, and share peace where there is violence.
This year, more than 6,000 people will meet in Monterrey and through a live webcast we will reach hundreds of classrooms in Nuevo Leon and other regions of our country where thousands of students and teachers will also be able to participate in this event.
Let’s use this opportunity to listen and learn from our speakers. Their stories and work emphasize the inmensurable value that the concepts of compassion, forgiveness, perseverance, justice, and non-violence have when they transform into actions.
I am honored to invite all of you to participate, discuss, and reflect at the Second Worldwide Meeting on Human Values and Culture of Lawfulness, where seeds will be planted for the transformation of our community. To think that we can change the future has not been enough, it is time to act.
